CHICILON MEDIA CHAIRMAN OFFICIALLY ADDRESSES “PRIVACY RIGHTS CONTROVERSY”
Recently, social media has circulated certain information claiming that "elevator screen systems violate privacy rights," leading to misunderstandings among the public. In response, Mr. Guo Zhi Feng, Chairman of the Board of Chicilon Media, Senior Advisor to the Vietnam Advertising Association, and Lifetime Honorary Chairman of the Shandong Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, has officially spoken out to clarify the issue, reject baseless rumors, and firmly defend the company’s reputation and the integrity of the industry.
“Currently, the system our company is developing has not been activated and is still pending official approval from Vietnamese authorities. During the testing phase, the system is not connected to any data platform, does not generate, collect, or transmit any data. Claims that the system is ‘spying’ or ‘surveilling’ are completely unfounded and misleading.”
According to the company, the trial phase only involves calibrating hardware and signal testing, with no connection to the backend operation system and absolutely no ability to collect or process images. Even if officially approved for future implementation, the system will fully comply with current legal regulations, ensuring user privacy and data safety.
The system has passed national cybersecurity testing and certification by Viettel Cyber Security, fully meeting both legal and technical standards set by the authorities. At the same time, Chicilon Media is firmly committed to the community and its partners through the “5 PRINCIPLES OF DATA SECURITY AND SAFETY”:
-
Camera modules are used solely for people flow statistics, not for capturing images.
-
No photographing, filming, image storage, facial recognition, or any form of surveillance.
-
No collection or analysis of personal identifiable images or information.
-
All statistical data is processed anonymously and non-personally, without identifiable features.
-
The system will always be under regular supervision by authorities and authorized independent organizations.
RELIABLE DATA CONFIRMS INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP
According to Kantar Media’s Q1 2025 report:
-
Chicilon Media’s elevator media network has achieved up to 90% effective national coverage.
-
A competing company, despite claiming 14,400 screens, has only around 3,644 screens that meet the standard of "accessible – visible – memorable,” meaning an effective rate of less than 10%.
OFFICIAL STANCE: WELCOMING SUPERVISION, RESOLUTELY OPPOSING MISINFORMATION
Mr. Guo Zhi Feng emphasized: “Chicilon Media always welcomes oversight and constructive feedback from all sides, but we strongly oppose malicious fabrications that mislead public opinion. Business growth must be based on honesty, professionalism, and performance—not on exploiting rumors to distract the public.”
The company has preserved all related evidence and will report the case to competent authorities for investigation and legal action against individuals spreading false information.
CONTINUING TO PROMOTE DIGITALIZATION, SAFETY, AND TRANSPARENCY IN THE INDUSTRY
Chicilon Media remains committed to operating legally, transparently, and responsibly. The company actively supports Vietnam’s “Digital Economy Strategy to 2030”, continuously enhancing its digital infrastructure to ensure effectiveness, safety, and trustworthiness across all communication and advertising activities.
