On 177 Tran Nao Street, Binh An Ward, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, Dieu Giac Pagoda stands out not for its serenity like many other pagodas, but for the frequent sounds of children crying and playing. These are the orphaned and homeless children being cared for at the Dieu Giac Pagoda Shelter, where nun Nhu Tri serves both as the abbess and the "mother" overseeing the children. Currently, the shelter is home to over 60 children aged 2 to 18. Most are in primary school, some are in high school, and others are pursuing vocational training at local colleges.

The staff of Chicilon Media visited Dieu Giac Shelter

On a rainy afternoon, the staff of Chicilon Media visited Dieu Giac Shelter, bringing mooncakes, lanterns, and other meaningful gifts. These presents served as an encouragement, helping the children feel cared for and motivated to strive for a better life. It was heartwarming to see the excited smiles on the children’s faces as they eagerly awaited the Mid-Autumn program. The kids enthusiastically participated in games, statue painting, and drawing activities with the help of the visiting staff. The scene was filled with joy as each child eagerly painted small statues and drew pictures of their dreams. Watching these intelligent and lively children playing in the pagoda’s yard, one would hardly think they are orphans or abandoned by their families.

In addition to the interactive activities, the team’s representatives and the nun visited and gave gifts to those children who were unable to join the outdoor activities due to difficult circumstances. At the end of the event, the Chicilon Media volunteer group distributed Mid-Autumn gifts to the children and made a small contribution to the shelter’s operating budget. The children also expressed their gratitude with a dance performance, which deeply touched all the volunteers.

The program concluded, leaving everyone with indescribable emotions. The innocent smiles of the children, the gratitude from the shelter members, and the shared love and kindness among people made a lasting impression. With a mission to spread love, help, and connect the community, Chicilon Media is committed to continuing meaningful charitable activities to build a better community.
